Curtis is also an emerging composer. He performed his first work, Echo Canyon for solo trombone, at the Big 12 Trombone Conference in January, 2021. His second work, Pursuing Stillness for solo bass trombone, was premiered at the International Trombone Festival in July, 2021 in Columbus, Georgia.
