Catalog Description: This course provides students the opportunity to explore careers in music. The course is project-based; students will propose and complete projects designed to show their research into areas of occupational interest to them, and present these research projects to class members. This course transfers as music elective credit to 4-year schools.

Justification: Entrepreneurship in the arts is an important part of any training program that prepares people to enter this field of endeavor. Those graduating with degrees in music will use this training to explore areas of possible employment, including private teaching, performing, composition and arranging, music technology, and others.


Student Learning Outcomes:
Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the careers available in their area of interest in the performing arts as assessed by course exams. This outcome will be assessed via written assignments, classroom participation, and exams

Students will be able to present research findings using traditional and technological presentation tools as assessed by course presentations. This outcome will be assessed via written assignments, classroom participation, and exams

Students will be able to conduct research into their chosen area of exploration using traditional and online sources as assessed by assigned research papers.  This outcome will be assessed via written assignments, classroom participation, and exams

This course deals with the diversity of employment opportunities in the music industry. Careers embracing diverse musical styles and cultures. This course will strive to help all students feel welcome and included as music majors on Snow College Campus.
