When to Appeal: Appeal if you lost your scholarship because of a serious medical condition, divorce, a death in the family, military service, or a grading error (for example, a wrong grade was reported, or a professor turned grades in late). Disagreeing with a grade you earned, or missing class by choice, are not valid reasons for an appeal.

95 Credit Rule: If you have more than 95 attempted credit hours and are not accepted into the four-year music program, you must appeal to remain eligible for any Snow College scholarship. You'll need an academic reason for staying, documentation from your academic advisor, and a list of remaining courses. These appeals are accepted throughout the semester — apply as early as you can.

Note: Staying longer at Snow College and earning more credits can affect your financial aid or your ability to transfer. Talk to Financial Aid and your academic advisor before you appeal under this rule.

Deadline: Submit your appeal and all supporting documentation by 5:00 p.m. on the third Friday of the semester after you lost the scholarship. (Lost it after fall semester? It's due the third Friday of spring.) Late appeals may still be reviewed at the committee's discretion.

Required Documentation: Incomplete appeals will not be reviewed.

  • Scholarship contract(s) — shows the standards you agreed to meet.
  • Unofficial transcript — printed from Badgerweb.
  • Your written explanation — typed and signed, describing why you're appealing.
  • Supporting proof — for medical appeals, a letter from your provider on official letterhead with their signature (medical bills do not count). For other appeals, documentation such as an obituary, divorce decree, job-loss notice, or a letter from a professor or staff member. Dates must match the semester you're appealing.
